Night motion.

The library is closed from ten at night to six in the morning. If the radio links between our receivers change at the same minute on two receivers at once, something may have moved near them. This page lists every closed night the detector has judged, what it found, and how many such coincidences chance alone would give.

In plain words At night the library is locked and the radio links between our receivers should sit still. If two of them jolt in the same minute, something may have moved near them, or two restless receivers may have jolted together by luck. This page shows every closed night, what the detector found, and how often luck alone would find as much.

The night-motion ledger in PostGIS (night_motion.*), written by monad-knowledge lake night-motion --write-db, detector nm-2, lake release rel-11904524685387593523, rel-1bf0c18f18e633e545d6, rel-70ab07bdc94d6cb01935, rel-a2e2f5ad5d3a255edb03, snapshot 406861 (2026-10-26T08:53+00:00). The site reads a copy built offline; no request reaches the database or the lake.

An event is not a person. Each receiver's channel wobbles on its own at night, and two receivers that wobble often will sometimes wobble in the same minute by chance. So every count on this page stands beside the count the detector gets when it slides each receiver's night against the others: the chance rate. A night whose events sit near its chance rate says nothing about people.

The ledger holds 54 nights, from 2026-08-31 to 2026-10-24. 18 quiet, 1 possible, 1 corroborated, and 34 insufficient, which means too few receivers had a floor to judge against. On the 20 judged nights the detector found 17 events; chance alone would give about 10.67. Receiver pairs: monad07+monad10 (17).

The calendar

One square per night, keyed by the date the night starts on. Pick a night to see its events below. A small number in the corner is that night's event count.

A blank square is a night the ledger does not hold. Insufficient is not quiet: it means the detector had no receiver floor to compare against (no motion rows in the lake release, a new capture profile without five prior nights, or an arm below the rate the Doppler band needs).
§2

Events against chance

Each bar is one night's event count. The black tick is the same night's chance rate. A bar that does not clear its tick by a wide margin is a night chance explains.

chance rate (circular-shift null)
Nights run left to right from 2026-08-31 to 2026-10-24. An insufficient night has no chance rate and no bar height.

Every night on one clock

Each row is one night from 22:00 to 06:00. A dark mark is one event at its time of night; a red mark is an event that Bluetooth activity coincided with.

Events by time of nightEurope/Bratislava
Positions are fractions of each night's own window, so the night of the autumn clock change, which is nine hours long, is drawn on the same width as the others. The axis shows the hours of the night selected in §4, in your browser's time zone; the library's night is 22:00 to 06:00 in Bratislava.

The detector could not judge this night: too few receivers had a floor to compare against. That says nothing about whether the library was empty.
