Description

PicoScenes (Jiang, Li et al. 2021/2022) is a unified Wi-Fi sensing platform that combines CSI extraction, packet injection, and signal processing across heterogeneous NICs (Atheros QCA9300, Intel 5300, Intel AX200/AX210). It supplants per-chip tooling (Halperin's tool, Atheros CSI Tool, Nexmon) with a single MATLAB / Python API and adds 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) CSI extraction on Intel AX200/AX210, which closes the gap between commodity Wi-Fi 6 deployments and what CSI researchers can measure. Listed here as Hardware because the platform is silicon-specific and most papers cite the platform alongside the underlying NIC.

Specs / capabilities

  • 802.11n / 802.11ac / 802.11ax CSI extraction depending on NIC
  • AX200/AX210: 160 MHz channels, up to 1024 subcarriers, MU-MIMO awareness
  • Frame injection with custom HT/VHT/HE PPDU layouts
  • MATLAB + Python toolchain, cross-NIC unified format

Tooling

  • PicoScenes platform: https://ps.zpj.io/
  • Supported NICs documented per-chip with feature matrix
  • Replaces Linux 802.11n CSI Tool / Atheros CSI Tool / Nexmon for new measurements
